mannn, first of all, is the name sheherezade a euphemism for a cityboy because that's how i pronounced it and it sounded like that in hindi

secondly, i love your writeups,. they come with this great enamouring honesty because there's not a bit here that i feel was written to impress or astound. it was just written to be written. i love this. secondly the way you draw imagery and describe the life, i don't care if it's true or not but it makes me want to live a more fulfilling life myself. so so good man! thanks for sharig!

i think i should change it to scheherazade with a c thrown in there. thanks for the correction there. it was a reference to the queen Scheherazade from 1001 nights btw.

also again, im so glad you found the time to read this and like it. and that too especially so late into the night, i salute you. im just humbled that these stories helped you, and substack aside, im happy for you. trust me i have a morbid life currently tbh, these snippets i write mean something to me too. im at a strange point in my life rn, but somehow the whole writing thing is helping. im trying to find my way with it. i mean, i just like it here ig.

mahhn :’) so stoked when ppl show their appreciation here. kinda feel seen in life and less lonely tbh. these are just stories i write after work when i have nothing to do, but lately i find great joy in them by putting them out here. im overcoming my fears and anxieties and the hugging complacency that comes with each sentence. thank you for finding the time to read this, felt like a ritual of sorts and im really glad you could connect.

its nearly 4pm here and ive just woken up after a bad day yesterday slept so late and i woke up reading ur comment. it makes me so happy.

writing is the salve always.

i hope you're less fearful on your next publish because you have nothing to be afraid of - the way you use words is really wonderful

you're amazing, like really really amazing. i suck at commenting cause i can't find words to describe what it made me feel, but this made me feel so many things all at once. it felt like i was walking alongside w you through this. beautiful!

bafflingmemory's avatar

thank you so much for the comment Parnika. though you are doubtful about your words, it made me smile and your interpretation of the story really helps me. makes me write better i guess. again, thank you so much.

I felt like walking slowly through someone else’s memory while recognizing parts of my own along the way. I was moved by how the ice-cream shop turns into a kind of living archive of people passing through, of the sea holding grief and wonder at once, and of Mr. Rupert becoming an anchor without ever trying to be one. The writing was wonderful!!

so glad u liked it. your reflection on the story was interesting to read, funny how stories moves us in different ways so was glad to know ur interpretation. i think we all need a Mr. Rupert in our lives :)
